Ronnie Lawrence ''Ron'' Vest, 65, of Lake Gaston, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at his home.

Ron, a native of Roanoke, Virginia, was the son of the late Samuel Barnard and Sadie Ellen Whiteneck Vest. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Nelson Vest.

Ron served his country in the National Guard and was retired from the Norfolk Southern Railway Corp. After moving to Lake Gaston, he started working in real estate and was working with Waterfront Properties.

Ron is survived by his wife, Bonnie Albert Vest; daughters, Amy V. Poole and her husband, Ray, of Littleton, and Leslie Holcomb and her husband, David, of Jarrett, Va.; his grandchildren, Landen, Emerson, Hunter and Chase; his brother, Gerald B. Vest of Check, Va.; his sister-in-law, Nancy S. Vest, of Copper Hill, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Kevin Brunk officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood cemetery in Roanoke Rapids.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
